Dr. Cindy Neunert is a Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Cindy Neunert is a Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York and a nationally recognized expert in pediatric hematology. She completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where she also earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Research.
Dr. Neunert’s research focuses on patient-centered outcomes in classical hematologic disorders, with a particular emphasis on immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). She chaired the 2019 American Society of Hematology Clinical Practice Guidelines on the diagnosis and management of ITP and previously served as Chair of the Pediatric ITP Consortium of North America. She continues to play an active leadership role within the consortium, contributing to collaborative research that advances the care of children with hematologic disorders.
A strong advocate for whole-person care, Dr. Neunert has helped establish clinical programs that integrate evidence-informed complementary therapies alongside conventional hematology care across a broad range of pediatric blood disorders. She currently serves on a consortium working group focused on understanding the use of integrative therapies for patients with ITP, helping to build the evidence base for safe, patient-centered integrative approaches in pediatric hematology.
